Boardshorts
Boardshorts: Self-Expression and the Art of Sustainability
Since our genesis, we've strived to be different. Comfortable boardshorts, built to perform, cut from materials with a conscience: recycled Repreve polyester and upcycled coconut husks. Earth-friendly fabrics, treated as a canvas for creative self-expression. The shorts do the talking. We just print on them.
Not all boardshorts are created equal. Ours are created from coconuts. That sentence sounds made up. It isn't.
Vissla Mens Boardshorts Australia: Eco Boardies Made from Reclaimed Everything
Boardies should not cost the ocean they get worn in. Simple maths. Every pair of Vissla mens boardshorts runs upcycled coconut-husk polyester, Repreve recycled-bottle fibre and PFC-free water repellency, with 4-way stretch in every direction you are capable of falling. No fluorocarbon chemistry drifts off into the waterways. Built for Australian summers that start early, run hot, and refuse to end on schedule.
What Makes Vissla Boardies Different
Coconut husks that would have been farm waste become performance stretch fabric. Five to seven plastic bottles per pair come out of landfill and into the weave, courtesy of Repreve. The DWR coating beads water off without releasing PFAS chemicals into the ocean it is supposed to be enjoying. None of this is a green sticker slapped on an ordinary boardshort. It is the boardshort.
Types of Vissla Boardshorts
- Fixed Waist Boardshorts: Button and lace, locked in. The surf standard: a fit that stays put through floggings, duck dives and ambitious airs you had no business attempting.
- Eco-Lastics: Elastic waistband, pull-on, carpark to lineup with zero adjustments. Same 4-way stretch and eco-materials, less ceremony.
- Hybrid Shorts: Surf in them, then walk into the cafe like nothing happened. Quick-dry surf fabric in a walkshort silhouette.
- Artist Collaborations: Limited seasonal prints from the Creators & Innovators program. Surf-world artists, small runs, gone when they are gone.
Outseam Lengths Explained
- 16.5-inch (42 cm): Retro length. Maximum leg, minimum fabric. For loggers and anyone still loyal to the seventies. Respect.
- 17.5-inch (44 cm): Comp length. Nothing above the knee to argue with mid-snap.
- 18.5-inch (47 cm): The all-rounder. Sits right at the knee, surfs all morning, wears all afternoon. Most popular cut in the range, and for good reason.
- 21-inch (53 cm): Full coverage, relaxed fit, faint Y2K energy in the lineup. We support it.
Benefits of Vissla Eco Boardies
- Upcycled Coconut Polyester: Coconut-husk agricultural waste processed into performance stretch fabric, cutting the need for virgin synthetics.
- Repreve Recycled Content: 5–7 post-consumer plastic bottles per boardshort, diverted from landfill or ocean and spun into fabric.
- PFC-Free DWR: Water beads off the surface with zero perfluorocarbon chemistry. Nothing nasty rinses out into the sea.
- 4-Way Stretch Throughout: No restriction on pop-ups, paddle strokes, or the accidental yoga you perform mid-wipeout.
That first trunk-it surf of the season is basically the whole religion. No rubber, water finally over 22°C (72°F), shoulders free. The boardshort is just the uniform.
